And Jinx's daughter Rosie dreams of the bright lights of the newly emerging silver screen. My thoughts
This is the follow up book to Heiress (you can read my review of that book here), and while it goes along with Heiress, it is definitely a stand alone book that you can understand and follow without having read the first book.  I did like Baroness, but not as much as I enjoyed Heiress.  The author is able to transport the reader to the streets of Paris and New York City during the Roaring Twenties, but I did not feel the women were as strong as their mothers', Jinx and Esme, were in Heiress.  The daughters faced similar inner struggles as their mothers had, mainly the struggle for independence and the difficulty of following one's heart while trying to please their loved ones.  Unfortunately, Lily and Rosie did not always succeed in making the right choices, which allows the reader to watch them grow, but also makes you question some of their choices.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy coming of age stories and fiction set in the 1920's.  The growth of Rosie's relationship with her step-father is another aspect I enjoyed and leads me to recommend the book to anyone who has ever struggled to understand the feelings that exist between a step-parent and a child.
