Overwhelmed

This has been a crazy few weeks for me and I need to re-set.  I have a tendency of accepting lots of responsibilities at once and then feeling overwhelmed and freezing, accomplishing nothing.  I have great intentions when I accept the responsibility, but then life starts to happen and all of a sudden, I find myself with a ton of obligations and no time.  I have found myself there yet again, and am making a concerted effort to dig myself out.  Over the next few days to weeks, I am going to be knocking out a bunch of reviews and a few giveaways and then I am going to be reducing the number of reviews that I accept.  I am also going to be cutting back on accepting responsibilities outside of my blogging life as well, so that I can re-focus myself on the things that matter most to me.  I have not been creating a whole lot of original content and I want to get back to doing that.  My family will continue to be at the top of my priority list, but even a bit more so.

Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed with the responsibilities you have taken on?  how do you deal with it when that happens?

  1. I usually end up crying, then having a very short fuse with everyone around me. But after that...or before...depending on where I am with the tasks before me... I will make a list of tasks, even tiny trivial pieces need to be on that list or they may not get done. I will also stay up late to get things prepped for the next day or week just so I can have a few moments of downtime the following day. I don't drink caffeine, but end up in this naturally anxious state. I also plan my stops very methodically so that I have less backtracking to do and save on gas. And while all this is going on, I still say "Yes!" and add more. I am glad that I don't do this too often. And most of the time, all these tasks are for me.

  2. When i am overwhelmed i first see if there are any commitments i can cancel or move to later. Then i take the calendar and break down in small steps what has to happen when to make my deadlines and work backwards to break the tasks into smaller steps. I then "outsource" any mundane tasks i have (order paper towels and household goods from amazon, send out my laundry) and spend an afternoon prepping meals for the coming week to have easy healthy meals
