Product Review: Woolzies Dryer Balls

My thoughts on Woolzies

About 3 months after my son was born, I developed an awful skin rash over much of my body.  It was diagnosed by 2 different doctors as contact dermatitis.  The same thing had happened when I had my first child and we switched our detergent and the rash went away.  With the new rash, we could not figure out what was causing it.  I was making our detergent so I know it was free of irritants and the fabric softener I was using was the same we had used all along.  On a hunch, I decided to stop using the fabric softener and see if it helped.  My rash began clearing up immediately.  The problem with not using fabric softener is that the clothes are a stiffer and the static electricity is crazy.  We bought some of the plastic dryer balls and they helped with the stiffness of the clothes, but there was still a good amount of static electricity.  All of these issues were resolved with Woolzies.

I have had the opportunity to review many products, but this is one of my all-time favorites.  The clothes came out even softer than with the other dryer balls and there was zero static cling, even in the load of fluffy blankets.  My favorite part is the reduced amount of time it takes to dry the laundry.  Our dryer, although it is supposed to be energy efficient, often takes over 80 minutes to dry one load of laundry.  When we use the Woolzies, the loads are always completely dry within 60 minutes, even that load of blankets. For those of you who like a little scent in your laundry, these are unscented, so I would suggest either using those scented crystals you can add to the wash or adding a couple of drops of an essential oil you like to the dryer balls.  One word of caution if you do add the oil to the dryer balls: be sure to "set" the oil by running the balls through a short cycle by themselves so that you do not end up with oil stains on your clothing.

I highly recommend Woolzies dryer balls to everyone!  They are great for those with sensitive skin and they are cost effective.  You can get a box of 6 for about $30-$35 (as of right now).  That may seem like a lot up front, but when you consider that they last for at least 1000 loads AND cut your drying time by 25%, they will pay for themselves pretty quickly.
